Planning your stay in the USA

OUR GUIDE TO CAMPGROUNDS

El Monte RV recommend you book at least your first night campground in advance. This will give you peace of mind as to where you are going. Most Americans travel to campgrounds at the weekend and over the public holidays. It is recommended during public holidays and busy seasons that you plan your route as much as possible and book your campgrounds in advance to avoid disappointment and your preferred campground being unavailable.

When booking your campground, for first time RV'ers, book a "pull through" site. This allows you to drive in one end and pull out the other when you leave (no reversing). A full "Hook Up" means you will be connected to mains water, mains electricity (powers the roof air conditioner and plug sockets) and waste. Some campgrounds also include cable TV (subject to vehicle being equipped with a TV).

Campgrounds are a big part of the RV holiday experience. Whether you like to plan every aspect of your holiday or if you're the free and adventurous traveller, you will need to know where you can find campgrounds.

There are thousands of campgrounds situated throughout the United States, made up of independents and franchises. Listed below are a few of the larger chains of campgrounds that we recommend you take a look at:
